This includes :

The amount already includes 18% GST.

First Thing Students Should Know : There is NO PTE Late Booking Fee

This is probably one of the biggest misconceptions students still have.

A lot of websites still mention “late booking charges,” which creates unnecessary panic.

But Pearson has already clarified this officially.

Even if you book your PTE exam close to the test date – sometimes within 24 hours – there is no separate late booking fee.

The amount remains the same : INR 18,900

Honestly, this helps students a lot.

Because sometimes students suddenly need scores quickly due to :

• approaching university deadlines

• visa timelines

• offer letter conditions

• or last-minute application opportunities

Not having a late booking penalty gives some flexibility during stressful situations.

Students Also Get Confused Between Different PTE Exam Types

This happens more often than people think.

Someone preparing for Canada immigration accidentally books the academic version.

Another student applying for UK visas chooses the wrong UKVI category.

And because the fees are similar, students assume all PTE exams are interchangeable.

They’re not.

PTE Academic

This is the one most Indian students take for :

• studying abroad

• university admissions

• postgraduate programs

• bachelor’s applications

Countries like :

• Australia

• Canada

• UK

• New Zealand

• and many European destinations accept PTE Academic widely

PTE Academic UKVI

This version is specifically approved for certain UK visa requirements.

Students planning :

• below-degree programs,

• or specific UK visa pathways
  may need this version instead of the standard academic test.

The fee remains : INR 18,900

PTE Core

This exam has become important for Canadian immigration pathways.

It is recognised by the Canadian government for:

• permanent residency,

• work-related immigration,

• and citizenship processes.

Again, same fee : INR 18,900

PTE Home Tests

These are different.

PTE Home A1, A2, and B1 are mainly for UK family visa and settlement categories.

Their fee is lower : INR 15,300

But honestly, most study abroad students usually don’t need these versions.

Cancellation and Rescheduling Rules are Where Students Lose Money Unnecessarily

This part matters a lot.

Because students often assume : “I’ll just reschedule later if needed.”

But timing changes everything.

And many students only realise the refund rules after cancellation.

If More Than 14 Days are Left Before Your Exam

This is the safest situation.

You can :

• cancel the exam,

• or reschedule it,

and you get : 100% refund

No deductions.

This is why I usually tell students not to panic-book exams emotionally if they’re unsure about preparation levels.

If Your Exam is Between 8 and 13 Days Away

Now things change.

You only receive : 50% refund

Which basically means : you lose around INR 9,450.

And at this stage, direct rescheduling becomes restricted online. Many students end up cancelling and booking again separately.

This catches students off guard very often.

If less than 7 days are left

Unfortunately there is no refund ..

The full exam fee gets forfeited.

And honestly, this feels painful because nineteen thousand rupees is not a small amount for most students.

This is why proper planning matters much more than students initially think.

One Thing Students Rarely Realise : Stress Affects Booking Decisions Badly

I’ve seen students :

Booking the PTE exam is Now Relatively Straightforward

Most students register through the official MyPTE portal.

The process usually includes :

• selecting the exam type

• choosing the test centre

• selecting a date

• uploading passport details

• and making payment online

Students can use :

• Google Pay

• Apple Pay

• and other payment methods

Still, I always tell students one thing:

Before clicking final payment, double-check :

• passport spelling

• and date carefully

This is something students slowly understand during the process.
